Miss Bicolandia 2004; Iriga, Legazpi maidens dominate preliminaries

TALL, pretty, articulate.

These were the three magic words that best described the candidates for the 2004 Search for Miss Bicolandia. Especially the last, which helped the board of judges, chaired by presidential son, Dato Macapagal-Arroyo, pick out the 20 official candidates during the pre-selection and preliminary screening held Saturday, August 21, at the poolside of the Naga City Civic Center here.

City Councilor Nene de Asis, chair of the 2004 Miss Bicolandia Beauty Pageant, said 38 maidens enlisted for the search, but 7 of them failed to meet the 5’3 minimum height requirement.

Thirty-one made it to the ramp at the poolside that Saturday afternoon where 20 of the fairest were closely chosen to officially vie for the coveted title. Pageant night and final selection will be held September 15 at the Universidad de Sta. Isabel auditorium with movie stars Dindong Dantes and Geoff Eigenmann as hosts.

This year’s Miss Bicolandia stands to receive P100,000 cash prize plus trophy and sash. Her 1st runner-up will be richer by P50,000.
